
Melissa Crystal O'Neil, born July 12, 1988[1], is a Canadian singer/actress from Canada. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to win Canadian Idol's third season in 2005. O'Neil is an actress who is famous for her roles in Syfy's science fiction series Dark Matter. O'Neil was famous for her performance in The Rookie as Officer Lucy Chen. O'Neil was judged in the bottom two spots and three finals. The judges were shocked and asked viewers to vote for Melissa who was the most vocal contestant. From that point on, O'Neil never fell back into the bottom three after repeatedly receiving praise for her performances, and judge Zack Werner declaring that she was "a contender to win the whole thing". O'Neil and Rex Goudie both made it to the final two of the contest on the 7th of September on the 7th of September in 2005. After another impressive performance, Werner declared that "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead, long live Queen". During the grand finale results show on September 14 on the 14th of September, 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to become the third Canadian Idol, as well as being the first female winner, as well as (at 17) the youngest winner in the show's history.
