
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She is an attacker and captain for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the top level of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team with Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from 2018 until 2020. Following her graduation earlier from the University of California, Berkeley, where she played for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional at the time and played a major role in winning the league championship. Morgan was 22 years old at the time and one of the youngest players on the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. At the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the match-winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final clash against Canada. She was the second player in the United States with 21 assists and 20 goals in 2012, which made her the most youthful and sixth-highest prolific player in the country to score 20 goals in a single year. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was the FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups. She was named to both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
